Privacy policy

What we collect, why, and your rights.

Last updated

This policy explains what information WattVerdict ( wattverdict.com, referred to here as "we" or "the site") collects when you visit, how we use it, and what rights you have. It applies to the website and any related properties we operate. It is written in plain English and is not a substitute for legal advice tailored to your jurisdiction.

What we collect

WattVerdict is a static content site. We do not require an account, we do not run a comments system, and we do not collect personal information through forms unless you choose to email us. The information we receive from a visit falls into two categories:

  • Server and analytics data. Our hosting provider and analytics tools record standard request data including the page requested, the time of the request, the referring URL, approximate location based on IP address, and basic device and browser information. This data is used to understand which pages are useful and to diagnose technical problems.
  • Information you send us directly. If you email us, we receive the contents of your message and your email address. We use that information only to reply.

Cookies and analytics

We use a privacy-respecting analytics tool to measure aggregate traffic. The tool we use does not set persistent identifiers used to track individuals across sites. We do not use cookies for advertising and we do not sell visitor data.

Affiliate links and third-party cookies

When you click an affiliate link on WattVerdict — for example, a "Check price on Amazon" button — your browser is redirected to the retailer's site. At that point the retailer may set its own cookies in your browser according to its own privacy policy. WattVerdict does not have access to that cookie data and is not responsible for the retailer's data practices.

We disclose our use of affiliate links on the affiliate disclosure page.

Data retention

Server logs and analytics data are retained only as long as needed for security, performance, and aggregate reporting. We do not retain personal data from emails longer than necessary to respond and maintain a record of the conversation.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example, the European Union, the United Kingdom, or California) you may have the right to request access to the personal data we hold about you, to ask for it to be corrected or deleted, and to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us using the address below.

Children

WattVerdict is not directed at children under the age of 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us so we can delete it.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page when our practices change. The "Last updated" date above will reflect the most recent change.
